Ben Waters on the latest wireless charging strategies
THE SO WHAT
Wireless ‘opportunity charging’ is becoming the hidden constraint for scaling robot fleets, not robot intelligence. If you’re planning dozens or hundreds of bots, design the power and charging layout with the same rigor as your path‑planning and fleet management.

Robotics & AutonomyITjuzi: Chinese embodied AI companies raised ~$13B across 322 deals in H1 2026, up 5x YoY, as robot makers shift focus from hardware to AI
A ~$13B, 5x YoY funding surge into Chinese embodied AI is a bet that the value pool is shifting from mechatronics to software brains. If you build autonomy stacks outside China, assume a wave of well-capitalized competitors with tight hardware-software integration hitting export markets inside 24–36 months.
Robotics & AutonomyChina Robot Funding Slows to $1.6 Billion as Shakeout Fears Grow
A drop to ~$1.6B in October funding for Chinese robotics after a frenzy is classic pre-shakeout behavior—tourist capital leaves, operators stay. If you’re a robotics buyer, this is when vendor consolidation risk rises but pricing and partnership terms often get better for anchor customers.
Robotics & AutonomyThe best early Black Friday drone deals have landed — save on DJI, Ruko, Antigravity, and more
Consumer drone pricing keeps drifting down, which quietly expands the pool of people capturing high-res aerial data. If your business depends on physical sites or assets, assume more customers and competitors now have cheap eyes in the sky.
Robotics & AutonomyRivian spinout Also was working on an e-moto project in Kenya — until it walked away
Also’s decision to walk away from an e-moto project in Kenya to prioritize autonomous vehicles shows how quickly frontier tech teams will reallocate when focus wavers. For operators in emerging markets, don’t assume pilot projects mature—structure partnerships so local value isn’t contingent on a single product bet.
