Elon Musk took heat at chaotic Memphis data center moratorium vote
Local backlash against data centers is now a real permitting risk, not a rounding error. If your AI infra roadmap assumes frictionless siting, start modeling delays, community pushback, and conditional approvals as base case, not tail risk.

Rising oil and rates cooling a record rally tightens the funding environment just as capital-intensive AI and space deals — like a reported $40B SpaceX raise for Nvidia chips — come to market. Expect higher scrutiny on payback periods and unit economics for any infra-heavy roadmap.
