New laptops are using old CPUs and that’s a problem

Vendors quietly rebadging old silicon into ‘new’ laptops means spec sheets are becoming less trustworthy as a proxy for capability. If you’re buying fleets for AI-heavy workloads, tighten procurement: require exact CPU model IDs, generation, and on-die NPU details, not just marketing names.
