Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Names James Misewich Quantum Computing Constellation Chair
THE SO WHAT
Endowing a Quantum Computing Constellation Chair is another data point that universities are institutionalizing quantum as a long-term strategic field, not a side lab. For operators, this means a slowly growing pipeline of specialized talent and research partnerships — worth tracking if quantum is on your 5–10 year horizon.

Deep & Emerging TechIonQ's Biggest Move Yet: A $1.3B Security Acquisition
A quantum hardware player spending up to $1.3B on cybersecurity is a clear tell — the commercial wedge for quantum may be defensive “Q-Day” narratives, not just faster compute. CISOs should expect more vendors bundling quantum and post-quantum security and pressure to budget against long-horizon cryptographic risk.
Deep & Emerging TechStryker to invest $400m in CMR Surgical, with option to buy it outright
A $400M strategic stake plus a call option says surgical robotics is consolidating into a few full-stack platforms. Hospital buyers should assume tighter integration between robots, instruments, and data — and negotiate now for interoperability and data access before M&A closes those doors.
Deep & Emerging Tech'GPU pricing to climb significantly' warns a PC maker in the US
If consumer GPU prices spike again, AI and gaming share the same constrained supply chain — and small teams get squeezed first. Operators relying on local GPUs for training or inference should lock in capacity or evaluate cloud/SLM alternatives before the next pricing leg up.
Deep & Emerging TechAI is supercharging a ~$442B scam economy that is bigger than the global cocaine trade, as the Chinese scam industry spreads beyond Asia's fortified compounds
A ~$442B AI-boosted scam economy larger than the cocaine trade means fraud is now an industrialized, cross-border business with cheap synthetic personas and content. Consumer-facing operators should treat scam prevention as a core product feature — not a compliance afterthought — and budget accordingly.
