Talking hardware with Palmer Luckey
THE SO WHAT
“Everything works great until someone turns on a ceiling fan” is the core hardware lesson—real‑world edge cases, interference, and mechanical noise still break otherwise solid systems. If you’re deploying any sensor‑heavy or mixed‑reality product, over‑invest in adversarial environmental testing before you scale installs.

Deep & Emerging TechIntel shares sink as memory shortage drags its PC chip outlook
A $1B+ Q4 revenue gap tied to memory shortages and PC softness is a reminder that AI capex doesn’t insulate you from old-economy supply chains. If you depend on x86 or specific memory SKUs, lock in multi-quarter commitments and qualify alternates before these shortages cascade into your own delivery dates.
Deep & Emerging TechIntel Plunges After PC Slump and Supply Snags Hurt Its Outlook
Intel’s plunge on weak PC demand and data center supply issues underlines how uneven the silicon cycle is—AI chips are hot while legacy compute softens. If you’re buying compute, this may be a window to renegotiate non-AI server and PC pricing even as you pay a premium for accelerators.
Deep & Emerging TechProposed underwater AI data centers could disrupt endangered whale species
Underwater AI data center proposals running into endangered whale concerns show that the next wave of compute expansion will be constrained as much by ecology as by engineering. If your growth plan assumes novel data center siting—offshore, underground, or otherwise—budget time and capital for environmental review as a first-order risk, not an afterthought.
Deep & Emerging Tech‘The $100 level is ours for awhile’: Oil won’t be getting cheap anytime soon, no matter what happens in the Gulf
Sustained $100 oil with Middle East shipping disruptions is a structural cost floor, not a blip. Operators with energy-exposed margins should be revisiting pricing, logistics routing, and onshoring assumptions now, not waiting for a reversion that may not come.
