Launch HN: Respan (YC W24) – Open-source Rust AI gateway built around plugins
THE SO WHAT
A Rust-based, fully pluggable AI gateway is another data point that the ‘control plane’ for multi-model, multi-protocol AI is drifting toward open, composable infra. If you’re stitching together MCP, voice, and multiple providers, evaluate whether a gateway like this can become your choke point for policy, observability, and cost — before each app team rolls their own.

Applied AIPartnering with Blacksmith
If agents can write production-scale code, the new bottleneck is proving that code is safe, performant, and compliant at the same speed. Expect “agent-era CI/CD” vendors like Blacksmith to become a required layer in any serious agent deployment, not a nice-to-have devtool.
Applied AIZoom's new Unified Context Layer unlocks all of your company's complex conversations and video calls for AI agents to use
If Zoom becomes the system of record for conversational data, your AI agents will be gated by how much you’re willing to expose from calls and chats—not just by model quality. Treat this as a data-governance project first: decide which meetings and channels are in-bounds before your ops team wires agents into everything.
Applied AIAsymptote Labs raises $5.5M to track and control what AI agents do
Agent observability and policy control are already spinning out into their own product category—Beacon’s ‘record and block’ model is basically Datadog + CrowdStrike for agents. If you’re experimenting with autonomous workflows, start logging actions now so you’re not retrofitting compliance and forensics later.
Applied AIAmerica Hates AI. Why Aren’t Democrats Doing Anything About It?
When a sitting member of Congress frames the top AI risks as ‘mass unemployment, mass surveillance, and mass destruction,’ the Overton window for regulation is shifting toward hard constraints, not just transparency rules. Operators should assume more aggressive proposals are on the table and scenario-plan for licensing, usage caps, and sector-specific bans.
